Jeremiah 29:11-13 – God’s Plans
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
It’s very easy when thinking about God’s plan for our lives to have the attitude: “it’s all about me.” Yes, it’s true that God cares about every detail in our lives. In fact, Jesus said that Luke 12:7 even the hairs on our heads are numbered. We can also mistakenly think that God’s plan is always going to be a “feel good” plan with the intent to make us happy. Jeremiah’s message in these verses is actually radically different. He’s writing to a group of people who are being held captive, and are in exile from their homeland. He’s writing to let them know that although they’re not where they would have expected, nor where they would have asked God to place them, God has not forgotten them and He still has a plan for their lives. Even in the midst of a difficult situation, God wants them to know His plans.
In the preceding verses we see that a big part of God’s plan is for them to Jer. 29:7 “seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile”. In other words, God wants them to know that His plans are not just to benefit them personally. God is also telling them that He is not removing them from the situation immediately. He does promise to eventually restore them, but it’s not coming quickly (70 years out when many of them will be dead). God is letting them know they can move forward, because in the eternal picture, God’s justice will prevail and everything will even out.
Today, in the midst of difficult situations, God wants us to know He has a plan. He also wants us to know that as we submit to His plan that He desires to use us to bless the world around us. The key still remains during both good and difficult times: You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
How does God want you to trust His plan in the midst of life’s daily difficulties? How does God want to use you to be a blessing to others?

3rd Friday night PRAYER Gathering. 7:00 – 8:00 PM. February 20, 2015 Discovery Center Bro David Croft will open the meeting with a few minutes explaining what we seek to accomplish via Spiritual Warfare Prayer Gathering – and how important it is that Discovery join us in crying out to God to release Satan’s grip on the lives of those who live north of Interstate 70!!! Our Father in Heaven – in the sweet Name of JESUS we ask that You come against strongholds, demonic influences, spiritual attacks and bondages. We believe You have the power and strength to conquer the darkest enemy break the strongest barrier and silence the greatest deceiver. Your name is Worthy, Glorious, Almighty in Power and we claim victory today in Your name!!!! Lord, this week we begin a new thread of prayer – to pray against spiritual wickedness in high places. Oh, Lord- it is our desire to see our community free of any Satanic bondage that would keep them blind to the Pure Message of Grace that our Savior Jesus offers. As we begin tomorrow night praying in this vein – may Your Light shine upon us – may we have Your peace as we go about Your business. Oh, Father we surrender our lives, jobs, homes, children and family to You. May You be praised and Thank You for what You are about to do in Northeast Columbia — in Jesus Name. AMEN

That reminds us that we are in the season of lent – 50 days leading up to Resurrection Day…At last Saturday night’s service a guest family attended. I spoke to them after church and they said they were taking their dog to the groomer and saw our Church Sign and it said – Taboo – Today’s Topic PORN and wanted to hear what we had to say. They might return, as they are not satisfied with their church. Another thing to pray about…How can you get involved at Discovery? There are multiple avenues – (a) you know what you are interested in as far as serving Jesus – so you could become involved that way. (b) considering the areas of your interest or where you feel God has given you a special talent – if Discovery doesn’t offer that – you are free to start that ministry yourself. We have 2 ongoing successful works going now that started this way…………..

“In the Name of God” is a dramatic movie about respect! Eric Roberts stars as a support group leader who uses the Ten Commandments as guidelines in showing respect toward others. A pastor’s daughter who bullied people with text messages benefits from the group, as do others. Mason is a teen that has been in and out of foster care homes all his life. He lets a leader in on a secret as to why he was originally placed in foster care. He has bounced around in the “system” all his life but one family and their son Nate refuse to give up on Mason.
The themes of this terrific movie include earning respect and putting others before one’s self and never giving up on people. The acting and story are remarkable. This film clearly shows that change is possible! Parents, hope you will come and strongly encourage your children to attend with you. Jerry will see that we have some refreshments to eat and drink. Kent will be our projectionist. This will be a great night of Christian entertainment and fellowship for our Church family.
