Titus O’Neil Just Took a Group of Homeless People to a Fancy Restaurant to Show Them Jesus

We’re used to seeing big man Titus O’Neal slamming bodies and bouncing off the ropes as part of the Prime Time Players in the WWE, but his moves outside of the ring are even better.

Take this for instance. Recently, O’Neil bumped into two homeless people and decided to take them to dinner at the Yard House restaurant in San Diego.

However, things didn’t go as well as expected. The staff was distant and O’Neil’s guests didn’t seem welcome at all, as he noted on his Instagram account.

“‘I’m gathering homeless people to take them out to eat at @yardhouse last night I did the same thing and the manager seemed distant in Serving the two last night so I said instead of just posting I’ll gather more and eat lunch with them at that Resturant. They need to learn how to treat All humans as such. #ContentOfCharacter #AllLivesMatter”

Instead of turning over the tables or blasting the restaurant staff at the Yard House, O’Neil did something even better—he brought an even bigger group of homeless people to the restaurant the next day.

Doesn’t this remind you a little of the parable of the Great Banquet in Luke 14?

“The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.”

This time, the people at the Yard House got it right and the guests were treated with dignity and respect—the way they should be.

O’Neil wrote this next to the image on his Instagram account:

“Completely Different Response than Last night at the @YardHouse in San Diego I’m Not a Fan of Injustice or Prejudice of any sort towards Anybody. My Mother Raised Me with the Help of many others from all walks of life and there were many Times that I had to go without as a youth because of A Lack of Financial resources. People will categorize those that they can’t relate to criticize those that stand up and speak out against what’s wrong all until it directly affects them. I’m not the richest man in the world, but Money, Fame and Status have never held me Bondage because at the end of the day I’ve Gone without before and God has always provided for me. Now I have the opportunity to do the exact thing that others did for me when I had nothing to give them in return….LOVE OTHERS!!! Thanks to those that accepted Help & Those that Treated my guest at lunch as Humans, Patrons and Gods People. On to Ontario for @WWE Live tonight #WWEOntario”

O’Neil followed up by posting this verse from Matthew 25:40:“Whatever you do for the least of these brothers & sisters of mine, you did for me”

What a powerful reminder to treat all human beings with compassion and to reach out to those who are less fortunate with action, dignity, respect–all in the name of Jesus!

Everyone mark September 20th on your calendar.   This will mark the 1st all church dinner since moving into our new building.  It has been ages – maybe never – that we had one weekend service where both the Saturday night group met and worshiped with the Sunday morning group.  The day will provide deep fellowship – great joy in eating with fellow believers –  and conversations seasoned with the salt of His grace (Col 4:6)

 Here is the plan….

 ·      1 Service the weekend of September 20 —- 10:00 AM Sunday morning

·      Each weekend till then – there will be a sign up – for head count.

·      Church will provide:  chicken – drinks – plates & table service

·      Members bring 2 sides – you can state your choice on the sign up sheet – salads – dessert – vegetables –rolls/bread

·      Following the worship service – the room up with tables and chairs in preparation for the dinner

·      This is also the day to sign up for fall & winter D-Groups

·      Faith McCain (House parent) in Max’s hometown – she developed an infection in the amniotic fluid and lost her baby.  He crashed in surgery but was stabilized.  It has weakened her heart and the family asks for your prayers….

·      Youth that are back in school… – desire to learn – share Jesus Christ with classmates.

·      Nikki Nowlin – unspoken request

·      Kay Baker – has had a continuous headache since returning from her outing at Branson

·      Kirsten Yoder and Patrick Fleenor – both in active military

·      Jenn Faddis – hip stress fracture heal quick and perfect

·      The Holy Spirit to move on families north of I-70 to hunger and thirst for righteousness and seek out that hunger in a Bible-believing fellowship

·      The return of members to our services who have been absent for an extended time

·      Jackie’s Father — and her sister

·      Growth of our D-Groups as each group seeks to build community…

Jeffery Baker is a starter on both offense and defense for the Harrisburg Bulldogs football team.   This Friday night his team will be in Columbia, taking on Father Tolton @ 7:00 PM………… Thanks to Karen Tompkins for letting Ysabel and Lilly Drage to stay with her and start their respective schools in Columbia this week.  Doug and Jackie will move to Columbia, September 1………… How great it was last Saturday evening to see Bob and Bonnie Winberg walk into Discovery Center.   They spent the entire summer in Alaska….I asked Bob how many miles they traveled and he said we traveled over 13,000 miles……………We have 3 young ladies in 3 respective marching bands….Kiki Marshall marches in Hickman’s band.  Madison Duff marches in Rock Bridges band…and Hannah Myers is in marching Mizzou.  Proud of each of you and know  you will enjoy your experience this fall…………Our Vision Statement was very “right-on” but too long to memorize…..This is our statement now.  Discovery exists to help people discover God……………..In keeping with out original plan, the bulk of our ministry – outreach is to occur in our D-Groups….i.e. fellowship, evangelism, discipleship, and prayer.   The Celebration service each weekend contributes to fulfill part of our statement through worship, the communion service, fellowship, prayer and bible teaching.  As we move toward our fall activities – it is my prayer that we will see a wonderful increase in D-Group attendance.   If questions – schedules – or purpose is heavy on your mind – please speak with:   Ross Duff,  Jerry Noble, Max Jennings, Shirley Duff, or Jimmy Steelman………….

It is no longer news – but it remains a fact.  Doug, Jackie, and the girls are moving to Columbia.  They will be making their home in the Sunrise Estates subdivision.  If you have some time – if you have a truck – if you can help in this move please see Doug or Jackie at our weekend service – or you could email him at

New 2 Part-Sermon Series

Vital Lessons from the Early Church

This weekend our Celebration Service will examine John 11 – Jesus is summoned by the sisters of Lazarus:  Mary and Martha — why did Jesus delay 2 days before coming?  Why did Jesus weep in V35….after Jesus brings Lazarus back from the dead, why would the Jews want to kill both Jesus and Lazarus?   Have you ever felt that God did not love you when He didn’t answer your prayers?   These and many more issues will be brought to light this weekend.

John 3:16  For this is how God loved the world: He gave[a] his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Acts 2:43-47  43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity[a] 47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.
