Isa 61:10 I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. The Hebrew word for LOVE, is formed by the same root letters as the word OBLIGATION. You might say, love is the opposite of obligation. In movies and T.V. we note the romantic view of love depends heavily on strong feelings and passion. YES, our love for God flows from those type of feelings. What is interesting is that the Apostle Peter was filled with this love shortly before he denied Jesus 3x’s. But love that is based on obligation is another matter and it is significant that the Jewish marriage contract the Ketubah contains a list of OBLIGATIONS that a husband is required to fulfill for his wife. He might be passionately “in love” with her when he signs this contract – yet wisdom of experience says this passion may wither in time, so the marriage ceremony formally obligates him to his spouse. By accepting these obligations, he agrees that love is nurtured by commitment. A Rabbi said – love which flows from obligation endures — but when obligation follows love, both are doomed. How does this all fit in with our bridal relationship to JESUS? His obligation to us flowed from an irrevocable decision of His will and commitment to love us — which cost Him His human life. We might speculate on the Lord’s feelings for us – BUT we don’t have to wonder at all about His obligation or security we have in His love for us. Our love for Him can be the same. Feelings of love are wonderful. But they can come and go. There will be times we wonder – Where’s that lovin’ feeilng? Is God really there? And that’s when the sure foundation of commitment will arise in the heart of every true lover. God’s great love for us is expressed in His commitment; to pay the humongous debt of our sin. Not only did Jesus pay the supreme sacrifice – He has given us the Holy Spirit to guide us through our earthly sojourn – all the while he is our Heavenly HUSBAND. Cleansed by His blood and filled with His Spirit we can love Him and one another with the same commitment. The feelings will follow. Discovery, “delight yourself in the Lord.”

As Christians – do we really believe the story in Daniel 3, where Nebuchadnezzar had Shadrach – Meshach and Abednego cast in the fiery furnace? How is it possible that the furnace was made 7x’s hotter than usual didn’t annihilate them in an instant? If we believe that God created the entire world/universe – all the galaxies in 6 days – it should not be an issue to believe that this Almighty God, could preserve 3 boys in a fiery furnace. Believing Daniel 3 only boosts our faith. God is the God of the supernatural – God is the God who is not restricted by natural laws – and God is the God who loves to honor FAITH. The Hebrew children told the King – our God is ABLE….note they did not say God WILL – they only said He Could if He Wished…..even if He does not save us – we are not going to bow to your 90’ idol of gold. WOW…..God give us that faith – we know that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Rom 10:17) – therefore I trust everyone will be present this weekend to have their faith bolstered – to fellowship with other believers – and to grow in the wonderful knowledge of Jesus Christ.

During the next two weeks, Emery Sapp will be digging out the dirt that has eroded into our lake. They will also plant grass around the bank and lay strips down so the grass will take root and thus stop all erosion. The cost of this project will be $3,300. Any gifts to this effort would be greatly appreciated – thus we can earmark said amount on our check to go to erosion control. THANKS.

10 These are the visions I saw while lying in bed: I looked, and there before me stood a tree in the middle of the land. Its height was enormous. 11 The tree grew large and strong and its top touched the sky; it was visible to the ends of the earth. 12 Its leaves were beautiful, its fruit abundant, and on it was food for all. Under it the wild animals found shelter, and the birds lived in its branches; from it every creature was fed. 13 “In the visions I saw while lying in bed, I looked, and there before me was a holy one, a messenger,[a] coming down from heaven. 14 He called in a loud voice: ‘Cut down the tree and trim off its branches; strip off its leaves and scatter its fruit. Let the animals flee from under it and the birds from its branches. 15 But let the stump and its roots, bound with iron and bronze, remain in the ground, in the grass of the field.
“‘Let him be drenched with the dew of heaven, and let him live with the animals among the plants of the earth. 16 Let his mind be changed from that of a man and let him be given the mind of an animal, till seven times[b] pass by for him. 17 “‘The decision is announced by messengers, the holy ones declare the verdict, so that the living may know that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets over them the lowliest of people.’
