It’s often in the midst of our greatest struggle and weakness that God shows up strong. In whatever you’re facing, be assured, He’s with you and He fights for you…Some days you might feel pressure & tense. We know God’s truth, we believe His goodness, and yet we still find ourselves struggling, with our minds racing, before our feet even touch the floor in the morning.
Our focus gets blurred. We start listening to the lies of other voices that do more harm than good. Media headlines tell us how dark and broken our world is. Images and reminders all around us shout that we’re “not enough.” The enemy’s great at heaping on guilt, condemnation, and fear. The problems we face seem more like giants of impossibility than anything good that God can ever bring from it.
The truth is, some days we don’t feel like much of a strong warrior in God’s army. We feel: week, afraid, alone & defeated.
But often, out of His goodness and grace, when we find ourselves right smack in the middle of huge feelings of defeat, God shows up strong. Judges 6:12 “When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”
Gideon certainly had no reason to feel like a warrior at that moment. He and his people were facing great suffering and defeat at the hand of the enemy. He doubted God was even with him. In fact, when the angel showed up, he was fearful and trying to keep hidden from view of the enemy who’d been raiding their land. Gideon questioned, “If God was with us, then why did this happen?”
Sounds familiar… Ever been there?….If God is really here, then why?….If God is really good, then when?….If God really cares, then how?
I love how God is so gracious, patient, loving, and kind – even with the questions, even after His people had turned their backs on Him. God still sends an angel to encourage, strengthen, and remind Gideon & Israel that He is with them.
Gideon still questions God and God responds Judges 6;16 “And the Lord answered, ‘I will be with you…’”
Five powerful words. That can see us through anything we face in this life.
“I will be with you.”
A reminder for your heart, in whatever you might be facing,
“The Lord is with you…mighty warrior.”
Our first weekend of eating & fellowshipping around the tables during our Celebration Service is in the books…….Obviously we are sad in the fact, that only 3 new faces joined us Saturday evening for the warm free meal…..We had 30 eating that evening…..
Wednesday afternoon, Leslie Marshall wanted to visit with me…..she was part of the Saturday fellowship, and her heart was heavy in that no more of our community joined in….her point was – HOW CAN WE ADVERTISE – getting the message into the hands of those who need a warm meal…..We discussed fliers – taken to businesses within a couple miles of our campus. We also need to get the word out ourselves – by using verbal, as well as electronic means to tell others what is available to them for free…..most people like free….
Let’s all make an effort to invite someone to come join us at 5:00 PM each Saturday in October….
The Sunday celebration service enjoyed fruit, muffins, and sweet roles with their tea and coffee……
It was different eating – worshipping around tables but I enjoyed it – one individual said – Church was FUN Saturday night.
Would everyone PROMISE me that you will pray for others to take advantage – and God will lead – and receive the GLORY of this outreach……AMEN
Ysabelle Drage – college student at Missouri State – is home on a 5 day leave….it will be good to fellowship with her this weekend how she is enjoying college life – etc………..Doug shared at prayer time this Tuesday, that their Thursday evening D-Group has been running 12 members….WOW – wonderful….Our men’s group on Wednesday has been averaging 7 or more —- I say this to encourage others – and to challenge those who have yet to visit a D-Group. Our local Preacher’s Fellowship dinner was held this Tuesday evening – and I was able to share a moment how Discovery came into existence — we are a Cell Church – where the Cell meeting is the Big Event – and on the weekend we convene to Celebrate Jesus……Pray that God would lead you in a deeper discipleship – sweeter fellowship – and stronger prayer life – all of which is a by-product of the Cell Group……………The Rock Bridge Girls Golf Team are going to State next week….this is a result of winning the sectional this week in Fulton….Madison Duff is a member of the team. They’ll play in Kansas City Monday and Tuesday we don’t pray to win – we pray that each will do their best……………The Chrislov Fleenor has had a couple prayers answered recently – I love to hear these good reports…..Rita’s biopsy was negative – and in Florida – their daughter Tori’s car stalled in the middle of an intersection….help pushed it away — found out it was the transmission – which was a cost they didn’t need…..found out the transmission fix was covered under warranty…..PTL…………..
THE CHURCH IS GIFT FROM GOD …ASSEMBLY REQUIRED
This weekend’s Celebration Service takes us to Isaiah 9:1-7. I’d appreciate it is everyone would read this section prior to attending the fellowship? God offers a wonderful promise to the faithful — at one time they walked in darkness – but now they have seen a great light. God enlarged the nation – increased their joy as people rejoice at harvest….The highlight of the text is v6… For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor,[a] Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Hope all who read this will be with us as we unpack the prophecy, culminating with discussing the 4 names given to the Son of God in v6…..

Isaiah 11:1-11 Out of the stump of David’s family[a] will grow a shoot—yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root. 2 And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. 3 He will delight in obeying the Lord. He will not judge by appearance nor make a decision based on hearsay. 4 He will give justice to the poor and make fair decisions for the exploited. The earth will shake at the force of his word, and one breath from his mouth will destroy the wicked. 5 He will wear righteousness like a belt and truth like an undergarment. 6 In that day the wolf and the lamb will live together; the leopard will lie down with the baby goat. The calf and the yearling will be safe with the lion, and a little child will lead them all. 7 The cow will graze near the bear. The cub and the calf will lie down together. The lion will eat hay like a cow. 8 The baby will play safely near the hole of a cobra. Yes, a little child will put its hand in a nest of deadly snakes without harm. 9 Nothing will hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain for as the waters fill the sea,so the earth will be filled with people who know the Lord. 10 In that day the heir to David’s throne[b]will be a banner of salvation to all the world. The nations will rally to him, and the land where he lives will be a glorious place.[c]
