2 Pet 1:3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.
Today, when asked a question we don’t know – we quickly grab our phones and open Google. Our smartphones connect us to the world and to information overload—bear in mind the answer you seek could be wrong.
How does a New Christian grow? How does one who attends Sunday church but never opens their bible during the week Grow? Let’s look at just 3 old time truths for Christian growth we still need in the modern age:
1. Take God’s Word to heart
The Bible has many examples, stories and commands meant to get us to read it —and know it. One of the clearest commands is found in 1 Peter 2:2 “As newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the Word, that with it you may grow”. It’s not uncommon to hear even Christians admit they have little to no desire to study for God’s Word. Search your heart. If you find you truly do want to know what God wants to show you, you have already taken this command to heart! Can I truly follow Jesus if I never open His book seeking direction? Read it regularly – read it with purpose – read it knowing you will grow in your relationship with Jesus.
2. Take An Active Part in the Church
What do you enjoy doing? As you walk with Jesus feasting on His Word – to Grow- you must take an active role in the Churches life….At your baptism, you not only received the Holy Spirit – the Spirit GIFTED you with a gift to serve the church. So as you try serving in various ways, you’ll see more results, and feel more joy, as you serve in some ways, than in others. Think of the gift God gave you as an investment in the church itself – He wants you to use making the whole body grow stronger.
3. Take Your Understanding and Gift to Bear Fruit
Jesus is our Savior, Friend, Lord, & He didn’t save us so we could live as we choose – NO – but that we would live for Him. The way we do that is to Bear Fruit. There are two ways we bear fruit (1) Good Works – and (2) Multiply y
The best way to grow is to go public as a serious disciple of JESUS. I need to know what it really means to follow Jesus. I need to put it into practice. And I need to do it in such a way that I am seeing good results.

Our community is using the Blessing Box like crazy. We now are totally out of food — There is no doubt the Box is meeting several needs of folk around us….I am also grateful to see several of you brining in non-perishables whether on Saturday or Sunday ……A few weeks ago after Sunday service –I saw a lady stop by the box – get out with a sack – (we had just filled it) – and I though there she goes….I need to be rebuked— in her sack were items she placed inside the box — I was blessed – as well as ashamed……
The church is supporting it monthly as our mission – but it is a situation where the money runs out before the month runs out……therefore we are dependent on your contribution.

The Biblical Text all D-Groups will be studying this week is below…
Col 2:1-10 I want you to know how much I have agonized for you and for the church at Laodicea, and for many other believers who have never met me personally. 2 I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself. 3 In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
4 I am telling you this so no one will deceive you with well-crafted arguments. 5 For though I am far away from you, my heart is with you. And I rejoice that you are living as you should and that your faith in Christ is strong.
6 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
8 Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers[a] of this world, rather than from Christ. 9 For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body.[b] 10 So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.
