Luke 5:3-5– And He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to push out a little way from the land. And he sat down and began teaching the multitudes from the boat. 4And when He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.”
We say that we are committed to JESUS? Total commitment means that Jesus Christ is Lord in every area of our lives.
· He must be Lord on Tuesday night as well as the weekend.
· He must be Lord of our bodies as well as our brains.
· He must be Lord of what we save as well as what we sacrifice. Is He Lord of all?
At the beginning of Luke 5, we see that Peter is on the beach washing his fishing nets. When we come to verse 11 we see that Peter has left his boat, his nets, and everything to follow the Lord. Peter took a couple steps and witnessed a miracle in his spiritual life…we want to follow Peter in deepening our commitment.
A) Step #1 – Get Involved. Peter is willing to let Jesus use his boat. Peter knew Jesus at this time….Luke 4:38but until now he has been content just to hear the Word of God while continuing his normal way of living. What a picture of a lot of Christians! Do They know the Lord? Yes!Willing to listen to the Word of God? Yes! Have they made a break from fulfilling the desires of the flesh?
B) Step #2 – Peter Turns His Boat over to JESUS. What about our Time – Talent – Treasure? Are we willing to make time available for the Lord’s use? Is it hypocrisy to speak of total commitment to the Lord when we are not willing to turn over our boatsto Him.
C) Step #3 – V3 push out a little. Sure, we can make all our stuff available for His service. But it is another thing to step out in FAITH from the security of the land. Could YOU…
· Train to lead a D-Group in your home
· See a place of service in our Weekend Celebration Services….helping with offering – communion thot – serving in children’s ministry?
· Beyond our financial responsibility – let’s now verbalize our faith as we take it to the streets – all this is pushing out from land…
It is in the deep that we experience the Lord’s power. It is in the deep that we learn to worship. When Peter experienced the Lord’s power in the deep, he fell down before Jesus and confessed, I am a sinful man, O Lord. The more committed we are to Jesus Christ, the more we are aware of our sinfulness and His holiness. V10 Don’t be afraid, from now on you will be catching men.
Yes, Peter would experience several failures but total commitment does not mean perfection. It’s a matter of taking self off every throne of life and enthroning Christ. Please measure your commitment
· Have you “pushed out a little”?
· Have you “launched out into the deep”?
· Are you still on the beach?
Total commitment means Jesus Christ is Lord of all.

Your life as a
Christian should make
Their disbelief in God
Have you ever had this thought? Often as I pass someone on the street, I think, “is anyone in this world of 7 billion people praying for this person?”
It’s important to pray for the stranger around you –– in line at the store — in the car next to you…..be the one to bring them before the Throne of God.
The weather in and around Columbia is sketchy to say the least as we head into the weekend…..looks like they are projecting snow from 3”-7” for us into Sunday.
If we feel church needs to be cancelled (not wanting to put anyone’s life in jeopardy getting to/from the church —- you will be notified by E-MAIL…..
1 John 4;7-11 Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. 8 But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
9 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
11 Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.
