I would never ask you to do what Annie and I refuse to do.  We gave our year-end gift to Christ & His church 2 weeks ago….and I would like to challenge every family to do something beyond the normal……Before doing this please go to our Father in prayer thanking Him for the Gift He gave us – (JESUS CHRIST) – and let Him know you also want to give a gift to Jesus thanking Him for your blessings, your deeper faith, and your church……There is nothing more I would love to report than we closed 2018 free of debt.

Our thanks goes Bro Vern Johnson for gathering up all the broken parts left from the Air Conditioner thieves and taking them away from our church property……….Madison Duff graduates mid-term from Rock Bridge High School – way to go Madison – finished in 3 ½ years……….Ysabel Drage is home from college on Christmas break – good to see her back on stage with the bass guitar……….Kiki Marshall and A.J. shared their lives last weekend with A.J.’s family in Lexington, KY – they will be the readers and lighters of the Advent candle this Saturday evening………. Max Duff played his first musical concert last Tuesday – he plays the cello…………The Tuesday afternoon prayer team enjoyed a Christmas luncheon at the Olive Garden this week.  It is always a great joy to meet together, share joys, hurts, and love and intercede for others in prayer……….. We are still looking for that Point – Person to be responsible for either securing – or delegating others to have the Sunday snacks at church.  The church has a budge of $15 per week….please sign the receipt and put it in Shirley’s drawer for reimbursement….If God prompts your heart you could see me or Ross/Shirley Duff who have done it repeatedly……

This weekend we are coming to the end of the Advent Season…..last week we saw Mary in Judea visiting Elizabeth.  We do not believe that while Mary was with Elizabeth, Joseph knew what was happening to her.  At the time she was 3 months along, she left and went back to Galilee…..As Joseph processes her pregnancy he wants to be compassionate – at the same time save his reputation, so he decides to divorce her privately…..the angel of the Lord appears to him in a dream and says that which is in her is of the Holy Spirit – you are to take Mary as your wife — so instead of presenting divorce papers he seeks a wedding license……

For those who hold views separate from the Bible, the last couple verses of Matthew 1 tell us that Mary and Joseph did not have relations till Jesus was born….we also know that she did not remain a perpetual virgin all her life for she had other sons and daughters.  2 of her sons you know – James – a stalwart in the church at Jerusalem and Jude who wrote an epistle of the same name.

Hope everyone will be in attendance this Christmas Weekend 2018.

When Oliver Cromwell came to power in England, Catholics were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Tradition holds that Catholic parents developed “The Twelve Days of Christmas” to teach children their beliefs.

Luke 2:1-7  At that time the Roman emperor, Augustus, decreed that a census should be taken throughout the Roman Empire. (This was the first census taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria.) All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census. And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. He took with him Mary, to whom he was engaged, who was now expecting a child. And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born. She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.
