The word REVIVAL simply means “to call back to life”…At our Tuesday afternoon prayer meeting – Bro Doug and I both prayed for REVIVAL….neither one of us had the understanding of what revival mean to the church 30 years ago – a protracted meeting with altar calls.  Our prayers traveled along the road of revival in our church – in our neighborhood – of love – of sacrifice – of giving…

Jesus spoke 7 letters to 7 church in Rev 2-3… the first letter to the Ephesians he told them that he had this against them – they had lost their first love….there were many things in their lives more important than the church.  You and I can make the application in the 21st century – only to know that many have lost their first love today.

As the TEAM prayed and decided where to plant Discovery – there is no doubt we are where God wants us….The old adage is this– the light shines the brightest in the dark….As we pray for our neighborhood – let’s also ask God to open the eyes of the hearts Lord – of those who live in the proximity of Discovery….may be understand our church sign – may their lives be filled with food from our Blessing Box — may they desire to find purpose for their lives and worship with us.

Also let us pray on a regular basis that we will have the financial resources to minister effectively as God is calling us to do…..You will note from the report below that during August, we will be playing “Catch-Up” with our giving in relation to our budget.  We are no more like God than when we give.   The Golden Text of our Bible says – For God so loved the world that the Gave…..May we give FAITH – may we give HOPE– may we give LOVE – faith – hope and love – these 3 and the greatest of these is love….(1 Cor 13:13)….

Good morning Pastor Max & team

On Monday – Aug 14, at noon our prayer team at Love INC will be praying for you and Discovery.  We always ask the Lord to give to you, the leadership team and congregation HIS wisdom – peace – power – provision and protection as you focus on Christ for salvation and vision in building His Kingdom on earth in Columbia.  We are so grateful for you and the service to His people and Kingdom in Columbia.

                                                                                    Stay Fascinated

                                                                                    Jane Williams  –

Praise the Lord —- the Blessing Box is giving the blessings we had desired and hoped for.  Bro Doug is the Blessing Box police – and he is filling it up every other day…..

The NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ITEMS that go in the box are NOT provided by the church treasure……we want everyone to develop some ownership in providing food for OTHERS…..Let;s all bring 3-5 items each week and watch God use it for His glory…..

You might be asking what would be appropriate….At this time I see a mixture of food plus school items….

Notebooks…glue….pencils….erasers….travel size – shampoo – soap – comb/brush

All food items are non-perishable –

Do you know what message the little Yellow Duck gives – sitting on the table outside the auditorium.  Our mission outreach right now – it to assist Turning Point Ministries in meeting the needs of the homeless. Turning Point works out of Wilkes Blvd. Methodist —– they have a handle on how to meet needs – and the monies from the Yellow Duck – support this ministry.

Matthew 25:35-40 3For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’  Most are aware how this passage concludes – Jesus speaking – as much as you did unto one of the least of these my brethren you did it unto ME!!!!    WOW –

The past two men’s D-Groups on Wednesday morning have been surpassing great…..we had a wonderful discussion on Faith & Works – and this week we discussed how to Tame the Tongue……every man confessed they have said things they were later so sorry for saying.  We have seen the circus master control lions – elephants and tigers – but no one can control the tongue….

This weekend at worship the discussion will continue – is it the tongues problem – or is it the heart…..Hope everyone will make the best effort to be together with us as we discuss taming the tongue.

Acts 2:38-39  Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away[a]—all who have been called by the Lord our God.”

Aug 27 following our Sunday worship hour we will have our next Baptismal Service.  It will be held on the west parking lot — we wil use the take recently purchased.  Men are planning on cleaning it with a power hose – another man will build steps in and out – and other men will have it filled in time for the sun to warm the water.

             If you

A)    Are hearing the Holy Spirit call you to obey the Gospel Call – please let us know

B)   If you were baptized as a child but don’t remember why – or much about it and would like to make a baptism of recommitment let us know

C)   If you were sprinkled but not immersed and want to completely obey Jesus and the Bible – let us know

VBS 2017 is in the books — an overwhelming success — about 40 in all made up the school this year.

Our heartfelt thanks to Jackie and her team for making it possible — organized – biblical – fun – and ending with a hot dog cookout – G R E A T all the way around describes the day best.

Obviously everyone serves to an audience of one – JESUS – but there is nothing wrong with giving credit where credit is due……To all who served from music – to shacks – to class – to craft – to – drowning everyone in water – to cooking – a Big Thank you in Jesus Name….

James 3:13-18  If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying. 15 For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. 16 For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind. 17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. 18 And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.[a]
